Ohau

Ohau is a loop-pile rug with a distinctive twist. Tufted from semi-chunky felted wool core yarn, it creates a dense, stylish texture at a 13 mm pile height. The core yarn features an inner core colour and a wrapper colour, allowing endless two-tone combinations for a bespoke palette. Tip shearing, the final stage of production, lightly trims selected loops to partially reveal the core colour, creating areas of subtle or pronounced contrast depending on your chosen hues.

Versatile and durable, Ohau works beautifully in residential or commercial settings, from living rooms and entrances to dining areas and foyers. Its low, dense loop profile is practical for hard floors while offering an artful way to introduce colour and texture.

Named after the alpine village of Ohau in South Island’s McKenzie Country, the rug mirrors the natural erosion of the surrounding Ben Ohau mountain range: tip shearing creates a gently “eroded” surface, echoing the movement and character of the landscape.
